Understanding Trump's Negotiating Style
It's too early to tell if it will bring the results we are hoping for
I have been trying to figure out Trump's M.O. since January and now have enough data points to offer a hypothesis. He consistently begins with an extreme stance and subsequently withdraws if the opposition appears amenable to negotiating a mutually beneficial agreement.
Example:
Position open: Anyone who is more than a month late returning a library card will be put to death by firing squad.
Revised position: Ok, if people simply return the books, pay any outstanding fines, plus a 5% penalty, we will expunge their records, and allow them to resume their book borrowing.
It's been a wild ride to date with Trump at the wheel, and I see no signs of it abating anytime soon.
