My Democrat friends the first time they heard President Trump’s enemies had the smoking gun that would end his political career.

After years of the Democrats throwing everything they had at Trump, including the full force of the government and its various three-letter agencies, to come up with some actionable dirt, they still have nothing.

Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Sweet bugger-all.

Now, why is this?

Well, here are the possible explanations:

• Trump is the greatest criminal mastermind in history who always outsmarts his enemies and will never be caught red-handed.

• Trump haters are members of a modern-day Cargo Cult thanks to a bad case of TDS and will never give up hope that one day a smoking gun will be found.

• There is no dirt on Trump, because—wait for it!—he’s clean.

Consider for a moment the fact that Trump’s the most heavily investigated politician in the history of the world, not just the USA. Could it be that his enemies can’t find any evidence of wrongdoing simply because the worst thing he’s actually guilty of is shitposting on Twitter?

It’s really beginning to look that way.

As noted earlier, I am a lifelong Independent who pinches his nose and supports whichever party stinks less at election time. In my opinion, both parties stink about the same over time, but the stench wafting from the Democrats has been far worse since about 2015. They have reached new lows in corruption, incompetence, and unbridled viciousness. Trump was the outsider who threatened to drain the DC swamp which explains why he won in a landslide in 2016 against, arguably, the least attractive candidate of the last 100 years. It was the American people’s big “F.U.” to both parties, as Michael Moore put it.

Tragically, Trump was caught off-guard by the scorched earth warfare used by the professional leeches in DC to sabotage him at every turn.

Occam’s Razor

Occam's razor (or Ockham's razor) is a principle from philosophy. Suppose an event has two possible explanations. The explanation that requires the fewest assumptions is usually correct. Another way of saying it is that the more assumptions you have to make, the more unlikely an explanation.

To conclude, one’s choices regarding President Trump are that he’s either a criminal mastermind or a benign politician who has simply been ruthlessly smeared by political opponents who see him as an existential threat to their taxpayer-funded gravy train.

I’m inclined to invoke Occam’s Razor here. Never has a politician been so viciously and unremittingly attacked for so long. This is a pretty strong indicator that the powers-that-be view him as an existential threat.

Honest people are not vicious.
